howie & mary - sunset cliffs

Oh, baby! Howie & Mary reside in New York and I was so happy they chose San Diego as their baby moon spot. It gave me the opportunity to photograph their maternity moment and to catch up with them. And, of course, no Sunset Cliffs photoshoot is complete without a sunset. This has become one of my favorite go-to spots.

Thanks again, Howie & Mary, for letting me be a part of this special moment for you guys! If you're ever in New York and need a great photographer, do check out Howie's page. He has a clean & crisp style to his photos and he is super fun to work with. I like how we both have pretty different styles and yet, we can still help each other out. I have been following him ever since he started photography and it's very motivating to see how far he has gone. Most of the photographers I follow are already successful so it's a pretty cool thing to see someone work their ass off to become where they are today.

With social media surrounding us, I sometimes find it difficult to not compare myself to others. I use Instagram, Facebook, Blogs, and etc. as a tool for inspiration. But, at times, somewhere along the way, I find myself envying their success and wondering when or if I will get there. And this is when doubt starts to creep in. When that happens, I just remind myself of this: Growth isn't in the number of followers you have; it is something you feel within yourself. Compare the pictures you took a year ago versus the pictures you took today. Compare the skills you had a year ago compared to the skills you possess today. Now, be proud of yourself for how much work and dedication you have put in and for how far you have come. Because you damn well deserve it. As long as you love what you are doing, then you are going in the right direction.

What do you think? Do you feel the same way? I'd love to know!
